Ministère places new limit on number of accepted applications

28-03-2014

Effective as of April 1st, 2014, a new number of maximum applications will be received by the Ministère de l’immigration du Quebec, and will be in effect until March 25th, 2015. The new quota put in place by Immigration Quebec in no way effects Canadian Immigration programs currently in effect. The Ministère, limiting the amount of applications it will process will allow them to attend to a greater number of pending applications, and will therefore reduce the processing time of all applications in the queue.

The new rules will apply to the economic immigration programs below:

Permanent Workers (Quebec Skilled Worker Program)

  • The Ministère will receive a maximum of 6500 applications for a Selection Certificate under the Regular Skilled Worker Program (without a job offer). Applications received beyond this maximum limit are not accepted and will be returned to the applicant.  This quota does not apply to applicants who have a pre-arranged job offer with an employer in Quebec (validated job offer), nor those students or temporary foreign workers applying under the Quebec Experience Class (PEQ).

Investors

  • From September 8th-19th, 2014, the Ministère will receive a maximum of 1750 applications for a selection certificate under the Investor Program, with a maximum of 1200 applications per country. If the maximum of 1750 applications has not been attained by this time period, candidates will also be able to submit their applications between December 1st-12th, 2014.

Entrepreneurs and self-employed workers

  • The Ministère will receive a maximum of 500 applications for a selection certificate under the Self-Employed Worker and Entrepreneur programs. Applications received beyond this maximum limit are not accepted and will be returned to the applicant.
