New website enables Canadian immigrants to create professional networks and find jobs

Last week, the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC), along with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and Scotiabank, announced a new website that will help immigrants build professional networks, which in turn will help them find jobs in Canada.

“Lack of professional connections and understanding of Canadian corporate culture are the primary obstacles to meaningful employment for skilled immigrants,” said TRIEC Board Member Gabriel Leiva von Bovet.

To that end, the new website allows new immigrants to find the networks they need in order to become employed in Canada. The site is a directory of networks that new Canadians can access by searching by profession or ethno-cultural group.

However, the website is not only useful to new Canadians looking for work, but for employers who are looking for people to fill their vacant positions as well.

The website is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and is also sponsored by Scotiabank.
